Warning, this is a summary from my class notes just to explain about how photography for evangelism so excuse it being a little bit of a theoretical post... I hope you enjoy though:
Photo - Using photography as a tool for communication
genx - Generation X is a a term used to describe the generation that ushered the world from modernity to post modernity.
How we use photography to demonstrate God's love for the world and to give them a sense of identity.
- Photographers see the world with different eyes
We often notice things others would not, we can capture moments of the beauty of God that others would miss and we can use our photos to convey that to others. We can use our photos to convey God's beauty and love for the world.
- When you capture an image of someone it validates their existence
All around the world their are people who think their lives account for very little, through affirming their beauty - showing them they are someone and you value you them enough to spend time with them - you help build in them a sense of value and of worth.
Through listening to their story in a way that empowers them to think differently about themselves - it empowers them to think differently about themselves. You demonstrate how God sees them.
- Your photography becomes a tool for you to pray over those you have met
Once you have captured images and heard stories you can use as a record to remind yourself where people need prayer.
- Your photography becomes a tool for you to inspire others
Through mobilising prayer and action your photography continues to be a tool through which the love of Jesus can be communicated.
- Your photography empowers you to be a voice for the voiceless
When you take time to take picture you potentially give a voice to someone who previously had no voice.
In telling the stories of the voiceless you move their lives from being voiceless lives to being lives who are empowered, a little less marginalised and a little more important.
