With some holiday time to fill, me and the girls decided to take a trip to St Paul's Cathedral. Which since I have discovered London church goers can visit free, is now my new favourite past time. The actual cost is quite expensive at 12.50 per adults and 4.50 for children.
The Cathedral itself is obviously rather beautiful and lots to see but we went for one purpose and one purpose only.
To go to the top.
Besides you can't take photos in the church.
So we walked up the 259 Steps to the Whispering Gallery, which is up at the base of the dome and I was surprised to find that you can actually hear people whispering from the other side which is surreal.
After a little rest we went up more steps to the Stone Gallery, which gives great views of London. The weather was clear but cold and quite windy. The girls noticed the doorway to the Golden Gallery and worked on persuading me to go up there. I eventually relented, the thoughts of photo opportunities too much to resist.
And so we went higher.
Now St Pauls website has 528 steps to the top, and when I visited it before Christmas I felt every step for a good few days afterwards - and on that occasion I only did 376 to the Stone Gallery), this time I'm glad to say I am feeling a lot fitter and haven't felt it.
If you can make it up the Golden Gallery I would highly recommend it as the views up there are just stunning. So without any further ado...
