I imagine it was like the first Good Friday, the sun was shining bright and hot. Were the clothes really so colourful? All the colour seems to betray the sadness of the day when Jesus was put on the cross.
Yesterday afternoon I went to see the Passion of Christ play at Trafalgar Square, it was put on by the Wintershall Estate and was amazingly well done. Sadly delays on the tube meant I was not on time for a good position and was not really able to see very easily. I didn't go to take photos of the big screens, but managed to get a peak through the crowds at some of the action (thank goodness for zoom lenses!).
It was great to see so many people there,(although somewhat surreal seeing modern people mix with Hebrews and Romans) learning about the true message of Easter and I totally plan to go next year (and leave enough time for a front row seat!)
Here are some favourites..

You had a much better seat than we did! Great photos. It was a very good play - do they do it every year? We were at Waterstone's near Piccadilly at 3.15pm and saw a flyer.
