Last week I endured a 110 minute delay and two Harry Potter DVD's (how did we cope before laptops?) on my train journey to Edinburgh.
My reward was being met by my mum, and lovely uncle and aunt at Waverley Station at 1am, who thankfully thought it was a fun adventure.
Despite some lovely sunshine during the week, the rains came for the weekend. Knowing they also had rain in London softened the blow though and the sweeping landscapes meant we had good views of the rain clouds, I enjoy rain much more when I see it coming!
We stayed at the Garland Guesthouse on Pilgig St, which is to the North West of Edinburgh town centre and about a 20min walk away. I'd highly recommend Garlands, they had no problem with giving Mum a key so we could come back at 1am. Our basement room was below the dining room but we didn't hear a sound in the morning, which allowed us a sleep in. The food and the service were both good and I particularly like the owner Bill's black and white checked chef trousers.
On the Saturday Mum and I had lunch at John Lewis, which has the most amazing panoramic views of Edinburgh. After meeting up with my Aunt and Uncle we went for a drive to Arthur's Seat, very pretty even in the rain and then we went to the Forth Bridges.
It was such a lovely weekend, and there is so much to do, it is definitely a place I'd like to go for a week with just me and my camera. But for now here are some of my photographic highlights.
