Had we been doing the diptych project last year, and had you asked me to photograph the theme of summer, I would have had little choice than to have some rain soaked picture. A cyncical reflection on the realities of a British Summer.
This year is a case of 'so far so good'. Obviousy there is still time for our fortunes to change but right now we have been experiencing some outrageously (for the UK anyway) sunny and warm days, and having purchased a couple of hats I am more ready to get out and enjoy them myself!
My photo this week is of some flowers making a home for themselves in a brick wall. If I ever have a house, I'd like it to have a brick wall with flowers growing out of it. I love the way they are making the most of the opportunity of somewhere unlikely to live, the way they brighten up the urban landscape. I can't imagine anyone actually put seeds in this wall so I dream about how some miracle of nature lead to them being there and that same miracle of nature will put me in some unlikely (but very cool) place as well.
Happy Summer!
Interesting how you both chose pink flowers for a 'summer 'dyptich.
Evie I thought your's was valerian but looking at google images, I am not so sure.
Love the peonies,Ann. the little global buds are so tight -then you get the loose blowsy effect when they are in full bloom.
Thanks for 2 nice summery photos!
