Another one ticked off the list!
I must admit the thought of finding a windmill in London was quite daunting and I knew I wouldn't be leaving London much over the holidays, what is a girl to do?! The answer came to me when saw footage of the tennis at Wimbledon, because at the camera panned out in it's aeriel footage, what should I see but a real life windmill!
Whilst visiting some friends who were about to move to China, my boyfriend and I had a lovely walk through Wimbledon Common looking for it, he spotted it first.
Other interesting facts about Wimbledon Common are that it is the home of The Wombles - which I used to love watching as a child. Sadly we didn't see any on this trip.
There is a plaque outside it to Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting and Guiding movements, as he lived there for a few years.
I enjoyed looking at these pages for some history about the windmill...

Sadly we didn't get to explore further at this point, we were quite tired and had done a lot of walking (more than is comfortable in flip-flops) but definitely a place for a return visit!
