Where food is concerned I definitely like the familiar. I am not one to try out myself, however when it is suggested to me and explained how to make and eat it - I do like discovering new things. So it is with globe artichoke. I had this with two kids who had to explain to me how to eat it. They weren't so sure about the cooking and I cooked them whole (which was a bit hard considering their large size). However all was well and they tasted fine, so guess they were cooked okay?
